The Institute of Public Health in the Faculty of Healthcare is the former Cracow School of Public Health, a name which has become engrained in the memory of many people, as it was the first school of public health in Poland. Around 370 trainees study Public Health.

The Faculty of Health Care as a part of Jagiellonian University is a center of education for related health professionals. Apart from educational activities it conducts scientific research and consultancy to support the health care environment in Poland. The Faculty is organized into 2 institutes: The Institute of Nursing and Institute of Public Health.

The old Jagiellonian University, with its centuries-old tradition, is also a young and innovative school. It consists on 13 faculties. In the year 2000, the Jagiellonian University was placed at the first position in the ranking prepared by the Youth Educational Monthly Perspektywy, and in 2002 was placed at the first position in the rankings prepared by prestigious weeklies Polityka and Wprost.
